Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 8, 2026
Speakfect (“Speakfect,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides an AI-powered public-speaking coach available as a mobile and web application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Speakfect you agree to the practices described below.
1. Who we are
The service is operated by the team behind Speakfect. You can reach us at privacy@speakfect.ai for any privacy question, data-access request, or deletion request.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and basic profile information you choose to provide (display name, profession, age range). Authentication is handled by our identity provider, Clerk, which stores your password (hashed) and any social-login tokens on its infrastructure.
2.2 Audio and video recordings
When you use a Practice session, a Drill, or a Mock Q&A, Speakfect records audio (and, when you opt in, video) from your device’s microphone or camera. We use these recordings only to:
- Transcribe your speech and detect filler words.
- Compute delivery metrics (words per minute, clarity, confidence, engagement).
- Generate written coaching feedback, follow-up questions, and Coach Chat responses.
2.3 Transcripts, metrics, and session metadata
We store the resulting transcript, computed metrics, AI-generated feedback, Coach Chat history, drill scores, Mock Q&A evaluations, and session metadata (intent, audience size, persona, toughness setting, timestamps) on our servers so you can revisit them in History and so we can power streaks, progress charts, and personalized goal plans.
2.4 Subscription and entitlement information
If you purchase a Premium subscription, your purchase is processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and entitlement state is verified through our subscription orchestrator, RevenueCat. Speakfect never receives your full credit-card or banking information.
2.5 Diagnostic information
We collect crash reports, error stack traces, device model, operating-system version, and app version through Sentry to keep the app stable. These reports do not include your transcripts or audio.
2.6 Information stored on your device
The mobile app stores raw recordings, cached session data, and local preferences on your device using its file system and AsyncStorage. You can clear this at any time from Profile → Preferences → Auto-Cleanup or by deleting the app.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the core features described above.
- To generate personalized goal plans and progress snapshots.
- To enforce subscription entitlements and free-tier daily limits.
- To diagnose crashes and improve stability.
- To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, subscription receipts) through Clerk and the App Store / Play Store.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your transcripts or recordings to train any third-party machine-learning model.
4. AI processing and third-party sub-processors
To deliver coaching feedback we send your audio and transcripts to Google’s Gemini API for transcription, evaluation, chat completion, and Q&A generation. Google processes this content under its own enterprise terms and does not use Gemini API content to train its general-purpose models. The other sub-processors that may receive limited information about you are:
- Clerk — authentication, email verification, password reset.
- RevenueCat — subscription state and entitlement verification.
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store — in-app purchases.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting.
- Cloud hosting providers — for our application servers and database.
5. Privacy controls inside the app
You can change the following at any time from your Profile:
- Save transcripts — turn off to stop server-side transcript storage going forward.
- Auto-delete transcripts — choose 1, 7, or 14 days.
- Skip body-language analysis — disables video processing.
- Local auto-cleanup — automatically delete recordings on your device after a set count or age.
6. Data retention
We retain account and session data while your account is active. If you enable auto-deletion, transcripts are removed on the schedule you choose. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize all personal data we control within 30 days, except where we are required to retain billing or tax records by law.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights email privacy@speakfect.ai. You can also delete your account directly from Profile → Account → Delete account, which initiates the deletion described in Section 6.
8. Children
Speakfect is not directed to children under 13 (or under the equivalent age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
We and our sub-processors operate primarily in the United States. By using Speakfect you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries that may have different data-protection laws than your country of residence.
10. Security
We use TLS in transit, encrypted storage at rest, and least-privilege access controls for our internal systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to follow industry-standard practices. If we discover a security incident affecting your information we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give you notice in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
12. Contact
