A 3-part toast structure that always works
Most great wedding toasts follow this shape:
1. The hook (≈ 30 sec) — A specific image of the bride or groom from before they were a couple. Not a list of adjectives. "Sarah was the only person at the dinner table who could finish a Saturday Times crossword in pen."
2. The "and then they met" (≈ 60 sec) — One real story about how the two of them changed each other. Concrete. Funny is a bonus, not a requirement.
3. The toast itself (≈ 30 sec) — Direct address to the couple, then to the room. Short. Raise the glass. Sit down.
Total: ~2 minutes spoken. Aim for under 3.
